SKILL:  SPEAKING

NAME OF THE ACTIVITY: Meeting People

GENERAL OBJECTIVE:
                                     To meet people.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVE:
                              Providing and asking for personal information while meeting people.

TIME: 20 to 40 minutes (It would vary depending on the number of students and questions)

MATERIALS:
            A cardboard with the written dialogue on it.

INSTRUCTIONS:

            In pairs, students stand in front of a classmate (some students in an inner circle and some students in an outer circle). Both students (the one in the inner cirlce as the one in the outer circle), in a conversation, ask and provide his/her personal information. Students in the inner circle are going to move to talk to the classmate who is on their right each time the teacher asks them to do it.
        

  • What´s your name? My name is______________.
  • Where do you live? I live in__________.
  • Where are you from? I am from___________.
  • How old are you? I am _______ years old.
  • What is your favorite hobby? My favorite hobby is____________.



     Possible Variations: The teacher would decide wether to ask the students to previously study the content at home or paste on the wall/board a sample of the dialogue for the students to look at when they forget either the whole question/answer or even the order of the statements.

                                                   

    Teaching WRITING (ESL)

    SKILL: Writing

    Name of the activity: Let´s compare!

    General Objective: To compare people, animals, and objects taking into account their features.

    Specific Objective:
    Comparing people, animals, and non living things based on their physica appearances.

    Time:  40 minutes

    Materials:
            A PPP (Power Point Presentation)
            Notebooks
           Pen/pencil

    Instructions:
    The students are presented the following PPP and they are asked to answer the "Fill in the blanks" exercise in their notebooks.
    Possible variation:
     In a computer lab students would be able to work on their own in the PPP, or they could also take the PPP home as a homework / practice.
